St. Michael School Walk-a-thon Supports the Travis Mills Foundation

Students at St. Michael School in Augusta raised $13,700 during  the school's annual Travis Mills Walk-A-Thon, which was held May 25.

The students gathered pledges for the event and then walked laps around the school block to raise the money, which will benefit both the Travis Mills Foundation, which supports wounded and injured veterans and their families, and the school.

Travis Mills, a retired United States Army Staff Sergeant of the 82nd Airborne and one of only five quadruple amputees from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, was in attendance at the event and spoke to the students prior to the walk-a-thon, telling them, "My foundation and what we do wouldn't exist without people that care. And they're just wonderful little human beings that are doing great things, and whether they know it or not, they should be very proud of themselves for being part of this day and helping out."

This is the seventh time that the school and Mills have teamed up for the event.
