Maine Catholics Invited to Participate in “9 Days for Life” Prayer Vigil
PORTLAND---Maine Catholics are invited to join thousands of Catholics across the country in nine days of prayer for life and human dignity.
“9 Days for Life” will run from Thursday, January 19, through Friday, January 27, and is a novena for the protection of life. Each day’s intention is accompanied by a short reflection and suggested actions to help build a culture of life. You will find easy to follow guides, daily prayers, and reflections at www.portlanddiocese.org/9-days-life.
The prayer campaign, sponsored by the Committee on Pro Life Activities of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, encompasses the National Prayer Vigil for Life (January 19), the March for Life (January 20), and the annual Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children (January 22).
The novena and day of prayer are a time of recollection and reparation in observation of the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion in the United States. Each of the nine days highlights a related topic, and the overarching intention of the novena is the end to abortion.
