Holy Family Church in Lewiston open for private prayer following Mass shootings

Holy Family Church, 607 Sabattus Street in Lewiston, will be open for prayer throughout the day on Saturday, October 28, to give people an opportunity to pray, grieve, and seek healing following the

“I want to open the church for prayer because the church is the place where people in Lewiston have gone for over a century to speak to God and to pour out their broken hearts. And in this noisy world, I want to create a space of quiet prayer so that people can hear God’s gentle and healing voice,” said Father Daniel Greenleaf, pastor of Prince of Peace Parish, which includes Holy Family Church.

Photos of the 18 victims of the deadly shootings have been placed at the foot of the sanctuary of the church with candles alongside them.  

Prince of Peace Parish also plans to hold a prayer service at the Basilica of Ss. Peter & Paul, 122 Ash Street in Lewiston, on Sunday, October 29, at 2 p.m. The service is open to people of all faiths.
