Faith formation children respond to a need at the Woodland Food Pantry

Children from the faith formation class at St. James the Greater Church in Baileyville, part of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, pitched in this November to help the Woodland Food Pantry.

Aware that the pantry has seen an increase in demand for its services and is in need of donations, the children and their families contributed and delivered several bags of food.

While the children were at the pantry, Tonya Scott, the director, explained the process of sorting the food and let the students assist her in checking the expiration dates on cans and boxes. It was a learning experience for the students, as they became aware of the work that goes into providing food for community members who are facing economic challenges.

Understanding the need remains great, the students placed collection baskets at St. James Church to continue to collect food donations as part of an ongoing ministry.
