Christ the King Parish collects 150 lbs. of items for the Somerset County Jail

During the month of February, Christ the King Parish families in the towns of Skowhegan, Madison, and Bingham collected underwear and toiletries to donate to the Somerset County Jail in Skowhegan.

The items collected during "Undy Sundays" included basics that a person might need when they are released from jail, such as T-shirts, underwear, feminine products, toothpaste, shampoo, and socks. Four large boxes, weighing approximately 150 pounds, will be delivered to the jail.

Residents of Christ the King Parish have participated in prison ministry for a decade now and recently added Celebrate Recovery, a 12-step recovery program. Meetings are held on Thursdays at the jail and on Monday nights in the parish hall to help residents who have been released.

The parish wishes to thank everyone who donated items to the "Undy Sunday" drive. It is greatly appreciated.
