Bishop James Ruggieri announces new priest assignments

His Excellency Bishop James T. Ruggieri has announced three new priest assignments, effective June 1, 2025.
Reverend Monsignor Marc B. Caron, who has served as Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia for the Diocese of Portland since 2020, will become the Director of the Center for Continuing Formation at Saint Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore, Maryland. Prior to his current role, Msgr. Caron served on the formation faculty of St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, Massachusetts from 2016 to 2020. Since his ordination in 1989 by Bishop Amedee W. Proulx, he has served in many capacities across the diocese, including as parochial vicar at St. Louis Parish, Fort Kent, chaplain at the University of Maine at Fort Kent, parochial vicar at St. Joseph Parish, Biddeford, chaplain at the University of New England, Biddeford, a chancellor of the Diocese of Portland, director of the diocesan Office for Worship, head of the Department of Ministerial Services, and pastor of Prince of Peace Parish, Lewiston.
Msgr. Caron is a native of Lewiston, Maine where he attended St. Dominic Regional High School. He graduated summa cum laude from Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine, and was a member of Alpha Rho Upsilon and Phi Beta Kappa fraternities. He completed his seminary studies and earned bachelor's and licentiate degrees in theology from The Catholic University of America's Theological College in Washington, D.C., and received a doctorate in sacred theology from the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary.
Reverend Kyle L. Doustou has been appointed Vicar General of the Diocese of Portland. His responsibilities will include direct oversight of the Offices of Ministry to Priests, Seminarians, Vocations, Retired Priests, Latin Mass Chaplaincy, and Parish Planning as well as the supervision of the Department Directors of the Bishop’s Office, Ministerial Services, Finance, and Pastoral and Administrative Services. Rev. Doustou has served as pastor of the Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord in Old Town since July of 2019, as well as the diocesan Director of Campus Ministry and Chaplain at the University of Maine Orono. Since his ordination in 2014 by Bishop Robert Deeley, he has also served as parochial vicar for the Parish of the Precious Blood, Caribou and the Portland Peninsula and Island Parishes.
Rev. Doustou is a native of Lewiston, Maine, where he graduated from St. Dominic Academy. He earned bachelor's, licentiate and master's degrees from The Catholic University of America's Theological College in Washington, D.C.
Reverend Brad Morin has been appointed pastor of the Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord in Old Town, where he has served as parochial vicar since July of 2023. Fr. Morin will continue to serve as the Director of Vocations and Campus Ministry for the diocese. Since his ordination in 2014 by Bishop Robert Deeley, Rev. Morin has also served as pastor of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, Calais and parochial vicar for Good Shepherd Parish, Saco and St. Paul the Apostle Parish, Bangor.
Born in Upper Frenchville, Maine, Rev. Morin graduated from Madawaska High School and earned a bachelor's degree at St. Joseph's College. He completed a master's degree in theology from St. Mary's Seminary and University in Baltimore.
In a related announcement, which was effective April 1, 2025, Elizabeth Allen, formerly the Director of Human Resources, was appointed as Moderator of Pastoral and Administrative Services, with responsibilities for direct oversight of the Offices of Human Resources, Catholic Schools, Missions, Public Policy/Pro-Life, Lifelong Faith Formation, Communications, and Diocesan Events and the effective communication and collaboration between all diocesan offices.
