Bambinelli Sunday Blessing - Cape E., Scarborough, So. Portland

On the weekend of December 16 & 17, people are invited to bring the Christ Child figurine from their Nativity sets to Masses in the churches of St. John Paul II Parish for a special blessing.  A list of Mass times and locations can be found here.

Pope St. John Paul II instituted the celebration of Bambinelli Sunday. Each Gaudete Sunday, the children of Rome are encouraged to bring the Christ Child (Bambinelli) figurine from each of their Nativity sets to St. Peter’s Square. Following the Angelus address, the pope blesses the figurines. Parishes around the world now join in this celebration, encouraging children and adults to make the connection between the Nativity set at home and the local church where they worship each weekend.
