Bishop Deeley is permitting the celebration of public Masses in the parking lots of Maine’s Catholic churches, but with strict protocols in place for the protection, safety, and health of all participants (several of the protocols listed below). At all parking lot Masses, Holy Communion will not be distributed until everyone’s safety can be assured through the adoption of appropriate protocols. For the present, parishioners are invited to participate in an Act of Spiritual Communion during these Masses. All parishioners will remain in their cars at all times. Only people who live together should be in the same vehicle. Churches/facilities will not be open for restroom use.Offertory collections will not be held during the Mass. Instead, parishioners are encouraged to donate to their parish online through WeShare (www.portlanddiocese.org/OnlineGiving) or by mailing in donations to the parish office.
 


Drive-Through Confessions

All Saints Parish, Brunswick

Drive-through confessions will be offered at St. Mary Church on 144 Lincoln Street in Bath on Saturdays at 10 a.m. and at St. Patrick Church on 380 Academy Hill Road in Newcastle on Wednesdays at noon. Also, confessions are available by appointment by calling the parish at (207) 725-2624.

Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Portland

Confessions will be offered at the chapel of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland behind the crucifix on Saturdays from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Please enter the parking lot through the Cumberland Avenue side. Parish staff will be on hand to help guide everyone through the process, as needed.

Corpus Christi Parish, Waterville

Drive-through confessions will be offered Fridays from 11 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of Notre Dame Church on 116 Silver Street in Waterville and Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot of St. John the Baptist Church on 26 Monument Street in Winslow.

Good Shepherd Parish, Biddeford

Priests of Good Shepherd Parish will offer confession in the parking lot of St. Joseph Church, 178 Elm Street in Biddeford, on Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Holy Family Parish, Greenville

Fr. Aaron Damboise will offer the sacrament of reconciliation in a drive-thru format at Holy Family Church on 145 Pritham Avenue in Greenville on Saturdays at 3 p.m. 

Holy Spirit Parish, Wells/Kennebunk

Drive-through confessions will be offered on the first Friday of every month at noon at St. Martha Church (30 Portland Road in Kennebunk) and St. Mary Church (34 Eldridge Road in Wells). Signs and an attendant will guide you.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Windham

Fr. Lou Phillips will be available to hear confessions from the back porch of the Our Lady of the Perpetual Help rectory in Windham on Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. From the handicapped parking lot across from the church, penitents can access the back yard of the rectory, one at a time, and approach the porch. Depending upon where the penitent stands, he or she will have the anonymous or face-to-face option. In the event of inclement weather, confessions will be cancelled. 

Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Sabattus

Fr. Seamus Griesbach will offer the sacrament of reconciliation in a similar drive-thru format. Fr. Griesbach will hear confessions from the window of the rectory, located next to the Our Lady of the Rosary Parish sign on 131 High Street in Sabattus, on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays (4 p.m. to 6 p.m.) and Saturdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Confessors need only drive up the driveway, keep their window do

Parish of the Holy Eucharist, Falmouth

The Parish of the Holy Eucharist will offer drive-thru confessions on Saturdays (except for May 9) from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Gregory Church, 24 North Raymond Road in Gray; Saturdays from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Holy Martyrs of North America Church, 266 Foreside Road in Falmouth; and Saturdays from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 326 Main Street in Yarmouth.

Parish of the Precious Blood, Caribou

Parish priests at Parish of the Precious Blood in Caribou are offering confession. Interested parties can call the rectory at (207) 498-2536.

Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Old Town

Fr. Kyle Doustou will offer confession in a drive-thru format in the Holy Family Church parking lot on Brunswick Street in Old Town on Saturday, April 26, at 3 p.m.

St. Anne Parish, Gorham

Every Saturday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., confessions will be offered at St. Anne Church, located on 299 Main Street in Gorham. On the lower lever of the church building, Fr. Cartwright will be inside the left window of the lower church (hall) entrance, and a tent will be provided for penitents outside of the window.

St. Joseph Parish, Bridgton, and St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Norway

Confessions are offered every Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot behind St. Catherine of Sienna Church on 32 Paris Street in Norway; every Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church on 857 Main St. in Fryeburg; and every Friday from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot of St. Joseph Church on 225 South High Street in Bridgton. Confessions can also be scheduled by appointment by calling the office at (207) 743-2606.

St. Joseph Parish, Farmington

Father Paul Dumais will hear drive-thru confessions on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at St. Joseph Church, 133 Middle Street in Farmington. Drive through the carport at the parish hall, and Father Dumais will come out of the hall and hear your confession through the passenger side window of your vehicle.

St. Matthew Parish, Limerick

Confessions will be offered at St. Matthew Church, located on 19 Dora Lane in Limerick, on Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a chair if someone wants to get out of their car to go to confession, but if they can't get out of the car, the priests will come over to the passenger side window to hear their confession. If there is more than one person in the car, then the others will have to step out.

St. Paul the Apostle Parish, Bangor

Confessions will be offered every Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot of St. John Church, located on 217 York Street in Bangor.

St. Rose of Lima Parish, Jay

Curbside Confession is available on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 1 Church Street in Jay. Drive up Church Street and park at the side entrance of the church and Father Paul Dumais will come out of the side entrance and hear your confession through the passenger side window of your vehicle.

St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Sanford

Fr. Bill Labbe and Fr. Jack Dickinson will offer confessions in front of the rectory at Notre Dame Church, 10 Payne Street in Springvale on Saturdays from 2:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. There will be a chair set up under a tent, but if they can't get out of the car, the priests will come over to the passenger side window to hear their confession. If there is more than one person in the car, then the others will have to step out.

Adoration with Parking Lot Viewing

Bangor
Parking lot adoration and benediction will be held on Sunday, May 24, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Mary Church on 768 Ohio Street in Bangor.

Ellsworth
Adoration is being offered in a parking lot format on Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Joseph Church, located on 231 Main Street in Ellsworth.

Falmouth
Eucharistic adoration will be offered in a "drive up" format from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. in the parking lot of Holy Martyrs Church, located on 266 Foreside Road in Falmouth, each Monday. Drivers must stay in their vehicles at all times. Participants can park in a spot facing the rear of the church as the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will happen through the windows of the kitchen.

Gorham
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament through a church window is offered Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Anne Church on 299 Main Street in Gorham.

Hampden
Parking lot adoration and benediction will be held on Sunday, May 24, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Matthew Church on 70 Western Avenue in Hampden.

Lewiston
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will be held in a "drive up" format on Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the parking lot of the Holy Family Rectory on Sabattus Street in Lewiston. Drivers must stay in their vehicles at all times. Benediction will be held each night of the parking lot adoration at 7 p.m. Adoration will be held on Saturdays from noon to 3 p.m. To pray along, tune into 90.3 FM.

Mechanic Falls
Parking lot adoration will be offered at Our Lady of Ransom Church, located on 117 Elm Street in Mechanic Falls, on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Rockland
Adoration at the window of the rectory at St. Bernard Church in Rockland each Wednesday (starting May 6) from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Parishioners are asked to stay in their vehicles in the parking lot.

Sanford
Parking lot adoration will be offered at the Notre Dame rectory on 10 Payne Street in Springvale on Fridays from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Windham
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament through a church window is offered Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church on 919 Roosevelt Trail in Windham.   

Adoration Livestreams

Bangor
Fr. Augustine Nellary will lead an hour of eucharistic adoration with benediction on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. from St. John Church in Bangor. The holy hour will follow the live-streamed Mass and may be viewed at www.stpaulbangor.me/watch-mass-live or www.facebook.com/StPaulBangor.

Brunswick
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will be available for adorers on the first Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. via Facebook Live on the All Saints Parish Facebook page.

Calais
Fr. Kevin Martin of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish in Calais will Facebook Live a Holy Hour each day from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the parish Facebook page. They will also be uploaded to the parish website at www.sktparish.org.

Greenville
Eucharistic adoration will be offered each day at 4 p.m. by Holy Family Parish in Greenville. To participate, visit Fr. Aaron Damboise's Facebook page and make a friend request.

Houlton
An hour of eucharistic adoration will be live-streamed on Fridays at 6:30 p.m. from St. Mary of the Visitation Church in Houlton following the 6 p.m. Mass. Visit www.maryagnespaul.org/mass-confession-times to view.

Old Town
The Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord will hold an outdoor May Crowning of the Blessed Virgin Mary and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament starting at 2 p.m. All are welcome to attend, but all participants must remain in their cars. Upon arriving at the Brunswick Street parking lot, drivers will be guided to spots in order to fit as many vehicles as possible. Fr. Kyle Doustou will bring the monstrance to each vehicle and bless those inside from a safe distance. The gathering will also be shown online for home viewing at www.facebook.com/parishoftheresurrectionofthelord.

Portland
Eucharistic adoration will be offered from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Fridays from 11 a.m. to noon. Prince of Peace Parish in Lewiston is starting a “constant rosary” with people signing up for a 20-minute segment a day, each day of the week, for the end of the pandemic. All are welcome to join. "Homilies on Canvas: The Last Supper”

Due to COVID-19 concerns, “Homilies on Canvas: The Last Supper,” examinations of depictions of the Last Supper in art set for parishes in Gorham, Westbrook, and Windham leading up to Easter Sunday, were cancelled. Fr. Lou Phillips, pastor of the three parishes (St. Anne Parish, Gorham; St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Westbrook; Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Windham), has recorded short presentations on video for viewers to enjoy. Latin Mass

Fr. Steven Cartwright will celebrate a live-streamed Latin Low Mass on Sundays at noon from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Windham. The Mass will be broadcast live on the Maine Needs Fatima website (www.maineneedsfatima.org/live-feed.html). The English propers of the Mass will be provided in a linked document.

Video Updates and Prayer Opportunities

Maine Catholics are invited to join Fr. Daniel Greenleaf, pastor of Prince of Peace Parish in Lewiston, Holy Trinity Parish in Lisbon Falls, and Our Lady of the Rosary Parish in Sabattus, as he leads a weekly, online study of the Acts of the Apostles. The sessions will include a video, discussion questions, and a video conferencing discussion on the topic of the week. Interested parties need only to register for the free class at www.princeofpeace.me/acts-of-the-apostles. Registrants will then receive an email with login instructions and a passcode. The classes are held each Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The format schedule for the class is Acts 1:1-5:42 (April 30), Acts 6:1-9:43 (May 7), Acts 10:1-15:35 (May 14), Acts 15:36-21:40 (May 21), and Acts 22:1-28:31 (May 28).
