Marriage establishes a holy covenant among three: one man, one woman, and God himself. The annual Silver & Gold Anniversary Mass is a testimony to the goodness of Christian marriage and the blessings it can bring. It is an opportunity to thank God for graces given and to ask for the continuing gift of grace to persevere in the commitments that have been made.

Catholics celebrating milestone wedding anniversaries are invited to participate in the annual diocesan Silver & Gold Anniversary Mass led by Bishop Robert P. Deeley. If community pandemic conditions still allow, the 2021 Silver and Gold Anniversary Mass will be an in-person event along with live stream for those not in the church for the Mass. Following the homily, Bishop Robert P. Deeley will offer a special blessing in which all married couples  - in the church and joining virtually - will share.

Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 4 p.m. at the Basilica of Sts Peter and Paul, Lewiston and via live stream at

Couples who are celebrating the milestone anniversaries of 1 year (married in the Catholic Church during the pandemic),  25 years,  and 50 or more years of sacramental marriage may register to attend the Mass in person and/or to be included in the downloadable commemorative program. Couples marking these milestone anniversaries may also submit a picture of themselves from their wedding day or present day for inclusion in a special slideshow that will be available through diocesan social media (website, Facebook, etc).

Click to complete the online registration form or call 207.321.7885. Only registrations received by 5 p.m. on Monday, June 7, can be included in the program or slideshow.

What if our anniversary this year marks something other than 1, 25, or 50+ years?
While all are invited to participate in the Mass which celebrates the gift of Christian marriage, only those celebrating  milestone anniversaries of 1 year (March 2020 to present) 25 years, and 50 or more years will receive special recognition in the commemorative program and slideshow.

Can I invite family and friends to join us?
Since we have capactiy limitations due to the pandemic, we are only accepting reservations for in-person attendees for couples celebrating 1, 25, or 50+ years of sacramental marriage. You may include family and friends in your reservation, though be aware:
+ those who do not live in the same household should plan to sit at least six feet from one another,
+ only reserve the number of spaces for people who are highly likely to actually attend,
+ the liturgy will be available via livestream.
+ there will no reception following the liturgy, and
+ pictures with Bishop Deeley are unlikely.

Do we have to register to get access to the special Mass or to receive the blessing?
No, any couple that particpates in the Mass - in preson or via livestream - may receive the graces of the special blessing.

How do we submit a photo for slideshow?
