Celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation for Baptized Catholic Teens and Adults

“The ordinary minister of confirmation is the bishop.” (Canon 882)

The Most Reverend Robert P. Deeley, Bishop of Portland, will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation for baptized Catholic teens and adults at three locations across the diocese.  While candidates participating in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults may receive the initiation sacraments at Easter Vigil Mass, these Masses are intended for practicing Catholics who have not been confirmed and, in some cases, who have not received first Eucharist.

Parish representatives MUST register at the link below and fill out a Sacrament of Confirmation form for each individual who is being confirmed.

Parish representatives click here to register.  The registration deadline is April 24, 2020.

The dates and locations are:

Friday,  May 1, 2020, at 6:30 p.m. at a church in Aroostook County TBD

Friday, May 22, 2020, at 7 p.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 150 Black Point Road, Scarborough

Friday, June 5, 2020, at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Church, 429 Main Street, Old Town

Please contact your parish office if you believe this opportunity is for you. This celebration is not intended for those baptized in another Christian community (with proper form) who are being received into the full communion of the Catholic Church  Upon completion of formation, these candidates should be confirmed and receive Eucharist at the time that they are received into full communion, which may take place any time during the liturgical year.
