Divine Mercy Sunday Celebrations - 2019

Divine Mercy Sunday is celebrated on the Second Sunday of Easter, the Octave of Easter, which this year is April 28, 2019. Below you will find a list of celebrations taking place in the Diocese of Portland. All Saints Parish, Brunswick

In celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday, St. Mary Church (144 Lincoln Street in Bath) will have exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at 2 p.m. At that time, private prayer and confessions will be offered, with the Holy Hour beginning at 2:30 p.m. During the Holy Hour, there will be Scripture readings; a reflection on Divine Mercy in our lives given by Father Patrick Agbodi, SMA; the recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet; readings from St. Faustina's diary; benediction; and an additional opportunity for reconciliation. A reception will follow downstairs in the parish center. In addition, during the 9:30 a.m. Mass, there will be veneration of the Divine Mercy image.

Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, East Millinocket

Christ the Divine Mercy Parish’s celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday will be held at 3 p.m. at St. Peter Church, 58 Cedar Street in East Millinocket.  It will include readings from St. Faustina's diary, music, blessing of the Divine Mercy Image, and veneration of a first-class relic of St. Faustina.

Corpus Christi Parish, Waterville

Corpus Christi Parish's celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday at Notre Dame Church, located on 116 Silver Street in Waterville, will begin with reconciliation from 2 p.m. to 2:40 p.m., followed by exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, the Litany to Divine Mercy, and benediction. Afterwards, participants are invited to gather in the parish hall for fellowship and refreshments.

Franciscan Monastery, Kennebunk

The Feast of Divine Mercy will be celebrated at the Franciscan Monastery, 28 Beach Avenue in Kennebunk, beginning at 2 p.m.  The celebration will include a talk by Fr. John Bacevicius, OFM, the rosary, and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.  In addition, there will be an opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Good Shepherd Parish, Saco

A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will begin at 3 p.m. at Most Holy Trinity Church, 271 Main Street in Saco.  The celebration will include a holy hour and the Divine Mercy Chaplet in song.  Additionally, priests will be present to offer the sacrament of reconciliation from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Holy Family Parish, Greenville

In honor of Divine Mercy Sunday, the Divine Mercy Chaplet will be recited immediately following the Saturday, April 27, 4 p.m. Mass and the Sunday, April 28, 8 a.m. Mass at Holy Family Church, 145 Pritham Avenue in Greenville.

Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Auburn

Divine Mercy Sunday will be celebrated at noon, following the 11 a.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Church, 8 Sacred Heart Place in Auburn.  The celebration will include the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

Parish of the Ascension of the Lord, Kittery

A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will be held at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 160 Agamenticus Road in South Berwick.  The service will include an opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation from 2 to 2:30 p.m., a presentation on Divine Mercy Sunday from 2:30 to 3 p.m., and the recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3 p.m.

Parish of the Holy Eucharist, Falmouth

The Parish of the Holy Eucharist invites you to join us for the Feast of Divine Mercy, April 28, at Holy Martyrs of North America Church, 266 Foreside Road in Falmouth.  The celebration will begin at 3 p.m. and will include veneration of the Divine Mercy image, meditation, eucharistic adoration, recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, benediction, and the opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation.  Mass will follow the celebration at 5:30 p.m.  All are welcome!

Parish of the Precious Blood, Caribou

A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will be held at St. Denis Church, 147 Main Street in Fort Fairfield. The celebration will begin with an opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will take place at 2:30 p.m., followed by the singing of the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3 p.m. and benediction at 3:30 p.m.

Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Old Town

All are invited to join in praying the Divine Mercy Novena beginning on Good Friday in the Queen of Peace Chapel at Holy Family Church, 429 Main Street in Old Town. On Good Friday, April 19, the novena will be prayed beginning at 2:30 p.m., preceding the Stations of the Cross.  It will then be prayed daily at 3 p.m. until Divine Mercy Sunday. 

Prince of Peace Parish, Lewiston

The 10:30 a.m. Divine Mercy Sunday Mass at the Basilica of Ss. Peter & Paul, 122 Ash Street in Lewiston, will be followed by a public, outdoor procession with the image of Divine Mercy and the enthronement of the image in the basilica chapel downstairs.

A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will be held at 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Church, 1080 Lisbon Street in Lewiston. It will include recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, exposition and benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, and an opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation.

St. Agnes Parish, Pittsfield

A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will be held at St. Agnes Church, 238 Detroit Street in Pittsfield, beginning at 2:30 p.m. You are invited to gather for an hour to pray together to ask God for his mercy.  Pamphlets with both the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the Divine Mercy Novena are available at the church.

St. Brendan the Navigator Parish, Camden

Learn more about the Divine Mercy devotion and pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy before the Blessed Sacrament at a Divine Mercy Sunday celebration at Our Lady of Good Hope Church, 7 Union Street in Camden, beginning at 2:45 p.m.

St. John Vianney Parish, Fort Kent

St. John Vianney Parish will celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday with a holy hour at St. Louis Church, 26 East Main Street, Fort Kent, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The celebration will include songs by children participating in faith formation.

St. Joseph Parish, Bridgton

A special Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will be held at St. Joseph Church, 225 South High Street in Bridgton. The celebration will begin at 2 p.m. with a Holy Hour. Special prayers and benediction will follow at 3 p.m.

St. Joseph Parish, Farmington

A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at St. Joseph Church, 133 Middle Street in Farmington. It will include adoration of the Blessed Sacrament beginning at 2 p.m., the recitation of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 3 p.m., and the opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation at 4 p.m.

St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, Calais

A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, 31 Calais Avenue in Calais. The celebration will include adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., the opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., and the praying of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 3 p.m.

St. Mary of the Visitation Parish, Houlton

The Divine Mercy Sunday celebration at St. Mary of the Visitation Church, 112 Military Street in Houlton, will begin at 1:30 pm. with an opportunity to participate in the sacrament of reconciliation. At 2:30 p.m., there will be exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, followed by the singing of the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3 p.m., and benediction at 3:30 p.m.

St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, Scarborough

A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will be held beginning at 3 p.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 150 Black Point Road in Scarborough. The celebration will include adoration, the Liturgy of the Word, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and benediction.

St. Michael Parish, Augusta

A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will be held at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Church, 110 School Street in Gardiner. The celebration will include exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, praying the rosary, Old and New Testament readings and Gospel readings on mercy, a Divine Mercy reflection, the opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation, and a musical recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

St. Paul the Apostle Parish, Bangor

Divine Mercy Sunday will be celebrated with the recitation of the Divine Mercy chaplet and a holy hour beginning at 3 p.m. at St. Teresa Church, 425 South Main Street in Brewer.  There will also be an opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

St. Peter Chanel Parish, Van Buren

A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will be held at St. Bruno-St. Remi Church, 174 Main Street in Van Buren, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.  To prepare for the feast day, the parish recommends your receive the sacrament of reconciliation, make the novena to Divine Mercy beginning on Good Friday, and pause for prayers every day at 3 p.m.

Stella Maris Parish, Bucksport

All are invited to participate in the recitation of the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy and benediction at 3 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 60 Franklin Street, Bucksport.
