Western Maine Lakes Parishes Helping Kids in Need in December

NORWAY---Parishioners and community members are encouraged, if they are able, to add an item or two to their shopping carts in the weeks ahead to assist young people in need living in the area.

The Parishes of the Western Maine Lakes and Foothills will be collecting new hats, mittens, and facemasks for kids of all ages, toddler to teen, on the weekends of December 4-5 and December 11-12.

The collection bins will be located at St. Catherine of Sienna Church on 32 Paris Street in Norway and Our Lady of Ransom Church on 117 Elm Street in Mechanic Falls. Those who can donate can do so by bringing items to the churches before, during, or after Masses on those weekends: St. Catherine of Sienna Church (Saturday at 4 p.m., Sunday at 8:30 a.m.) and Our Lady of Ransom Church (Sunday at 10:30 a.m.).

The collection is part of the Christmas for Kids and Christmas for Teens collection that has provided thousands of local students and little ones with items ranging from personal care items to toys. The program was established in 1979 and benefits from collections like this one at local organizations, businesses, and groups.
