In 1995, she received an honorary doctoral degree from Grinnell College in Iowa in recognition of her many years educating African women and girls.

After she returned from South Africa, she provided many services to members of her community. She frequently attended interreligious events, special Masses, and other celebrations.  She was a quiet, peaceful, supportive presence.
