Catholics observing milestone wedding anniversaries of one year (married during the pandemic), 25 years, or 50 or more years are invited to attend the annual Silver & Gold Mass, celebrated by Bishop Robert Deeley, on Saturday, June 19, at 4 p.m. at the Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul in Lewiston. The Mass will also be livestreamed at www.princeofpeace.me and all couples are encouraged to participate through livestreaming.
Couples who are marking special anniversaries are also invited to submit a photo from their wedding today or present day for inclusion in a special slideshow which will be shared on the diocese's website and social media platforms, such as Facebook.
Marriage establishes a holy covenant among three: one man, one woman, and God. This Mass is a testimony to the goodness of Christian marriage and the blessings it can bring. Bishop Deeley will offer a special blessing to all married couples in attendance and participating via livestream as part of the celebration. For more information, including registration information, and a link to register, visit www.portlanddiocese.org/olff/silver-gold-mass. You may also call 207.321.7885. Only registrations received by 5 p.m. on Monday, June 1, can be included in the program or slideshow. Space in the church is limited so register early if you hope to attend in person.
