JAY---People of all ages who are interested in learning more about local resources and opportunities for area seniors are invited to attend a senior resource fair at St. Rose of Lima Parish in Jay on Thursday, June 20.
The fair will be held in the parish hall, located on 1 Church Street, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event is free to attend, and a free lunch will be offered to attendees.
Among the many vendors that are scheduled to have representatives at the fair are Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, Seniors Plus, Catholic Charities Maine’s SEARCH (“Seek Elderly Alone, Renew Courage and Hope”) program, Legal Services for the Elderly, Western Maine Transportation, Safe Voices, Western Maine Community Action, Healthy Community Coalition, Franklin Memorial Hospital, SAPRAS, Senior Planning Center, United Way, Maine Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, A4TD (senior community employment program), Rural Community Action Ministry, Spruce Mountain Adult Education, Pinewood Terrace/New Communities, Woodlands Senior Living Facility, and the Digital Equity Center.
The fair is co-sponsored by Catholic Charities Maine’s SEARCH Program, which connects isolated seniors with community volunteers who provide companionship and assistance; the Maine Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, which investigates complaints made by, or on behalf of, individual residents in long-term care facilities, including nursing homes and assisted-living facilities; and Seniors Plus, an organization that helps adults make informed decisions about aging well, living independently, and staying safe.
