A New Year’s Message from Bishop Deeley

Happy New Year! A new year is an opportunity for a fresh start. In the spirit of this beautiful season of Christmas, we are filled with hope. On January 1, the Church honors Mary, the Mother of God, who is a model for us as we begin to fill the blank slate of 2020. Without knowledge of what would lie ahead, Mary refused to despair or give up on God being present to her and her family. With the trust of the Blessed Mother as our guide, let us resolve to seek the hand of God in our everyday life and respond to God’s presence and grace each day. This is the foundation of all discipleship. Commit to embracing this resolution as you enjoy the beauty and wonder of the Christmas season. God is with us, and there can be no greater gift than that. Be assured of my prayers that 2020 will be a year full of blessing and joy for you and your loved ones.
