Mount Merici Academy Receives $83,800 Gift

   

WATERVILLE---Mount Merici Academy in Waterville has been notified that longtime friend and benefactor Joseph Alfred “Fred” Boucher remembered the school in his charitable remainder unitrust.

Mount Merici Academy will receive a gift of $83,800 for the school’s endowment. The generous legacy gift will be designated as “The J. Alfred Boucher Family Memorial Fund.”

Mr. Boucher died at the age of 88 in 2011. A devout Catholic and member of Corpus Christi Parish, he would often bring chocolates to the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament and Mount Merici Academy.

“Mr. Boucher was a wonderful friend to Mount Merici for many years, often noting his overwhelming gratitude for having been Ursuline educated himself,” said Victoria Duguay, principal at Mount Merici. “He remains a treasured member of the Mount Merici family to this day, and his deep belief in the school has long been acknowledged as a cherished gift by the Ursuline Sisters and the academy’s faculty and staff.”
