LIMERICK---An annual tradition full of faith, friends, and fun will be on pause in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but organizers are still offering a way for people to help provide vital assistance.
The Funshine Fair, held for the last 36 years on the grounds of St. Matthew Church in Limerick, has been cancelled. The fair features family-friendly activities and special events that have drawn thousands of participants over the years and is a labor of love for the many parishioners and community members who pitch in to create an unforgettable experience for people of all ages.
The fair is a fundraiser to help the parish pay for services and expenses during the winter months. Though the event is cancelled, the parish’s Super Raffle associated with the Funshine Fair will be held in an effort to assist St. Matthew in covering costs, a particularly daunting challenge during the pandemic.
“The raffle is incredibly important this year and we are hoping to sell all 1,000 tickets,” said Heather Silva, a staff member at the parish.
Major prizes for the raffle range from $250 to $1500, with an additional 40 winners taking home $50 each. The drawing will be held on July 26.
Tickets are $15. If you are able to support the cause and purchase a ticket or tickets, visit https://stmatthewlimerick.weshareonline.org. For more information, please call the parish office at (207) 793-2244.
