Free Thanksgiving Dinners Set for Maine Churches in Houlton, Kennebunk, Norway, and Saco

PORTLAND---Responding generously to the needs of many in the community who are not as fortunate, volunteers at several Maine churches will gather together to provide free Thanksgiving dinners in praise of the wonderful gifts that God has bestowed. All of the events below will be held on Thanksgiving Day, November 28:

Houlton
St. Mary of the Visitation Parish will host a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner in the parish hall at 112 Military Street in Houlton. All who want to share in a holiday meal are invited, whether it’s because someone doesn't want to cook a big meal, lives alone, or is struggling financially. The dinner will be served from noon to 2 p.m. If you are interested in volunteering to help or making a donation, call the parish office at (207) 532-2871 from Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to noon. In addition, St. Mary of the Visitation will host an ecumenical Thanksgiving service at noon on Tuesday, November 26. A goodwill offering will be held at the service to benefit the Salvation Army Fuel Assistance Program and local food pantries. Financial donations and nonperishable food items will be gratefully accepted.

Kennebunk
St. Martha Church, located on 30 Portland Road, will host the 21st annual Project Pilgrim, a complimentary Thanksgiving Day dinner for community members to come together and share in delicious food with their friends and neighbors. Guests can stop by St. Martha from noon to 1:30 p.m. or call ahead and arrange to pick up a meal or have one delivered to their home. Transportation to and from the event is also provided. In 2018, over 300 people were served at the dinner. If you’d like to make a reservation (although not required), set up delivery/pickup, or learn more about volunteer opportunities, please call (207) 967-1911.
