PORTLAND---All Catholic women as well as women who have lost touch with the Church are invited to gather for an inspiring celebration of faith and community in Portland on Saturday, November 17.
The Scarborough chapter of Magnificat will host a Catholic Women’s Prayer Breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon at the Fireside Inn & Suites on 81 Riverside Street.
Magnificat is an international ministry for Catholic women with over 90 chapters worldwide. It aims to help Catholic women become more committed to Jesus by fostering a desire to grow in holiness. The main expression of the Magnificat ministry are Magnificat meals. By sharing a meal together with other women in the diocese, women are provided an opportunity to pray, sing, and grow together in faith.
The highlight of the prayer breakfast is the testimony of an individual sharing her own ‘Magnificat’ by telling her story about how God has touched her life in a profound way. On November 17, the keynote speaker will be Donna Towle who will present “Jesus I Trust in You!”
A native of Portland, Donna’s youngest son died at the age of two from a sudden death. She immediately turned to God and her faith and was so thankful for her Catholic upbringing, which helped her to cope at this sad and tragic time. She worked with her husband running two funeral homes for forty years, helping to console grieving families in need. Donna also founded grief support groups in her area creating “The Gift of Grief” program. After a difficult divorce, Donna became a consecrated associate with the Good Shepherd Sisters. For the last 16 years, she has served in prison ministry. She renews her vows of Poverty, Chastity, and Obedience every year and, in 2010, she compiled a prayer book entitled My Spiritual Guide for Souls based on the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Over 10,000 copies have been sold.
Seating is limited as these events typically sell out. Tickets for the breakfast are $22 per person. To fill out the registration form, which includes instructions on where to send the form, click here.
