Catholic Schools in Biddeford and Sanford to Host Fundraising Runs in November

BIDDEFORD---St. James School in Biddeford and St. Thomas School in Sanford will host fundraising road races in early November to support the schools’ collective mission to provide a top-notch Catholic education to each of their students.

On Saturday, November 2, the Trot for Education 5K and Fun Run will be held at St. James School, located on 25 Graham Street in Biddeford. The 5K starts at 9 a.m., with a kids’ fun run to follow. Award presentations and family activities will be held after the races. The first 100 5K registrants receive a T-shirt. The cost for the 5K is $20 in advance and $25 on race day. The fun run is $15. “This is a family-friendly event that serves as an important fundraiser for our school,” said Nancy Naimey, principal of St. James. “For those who don’t wish to run, they can help sponsor the event or make a contribution to the students’ fundraising efforts. Anyone interested can email us at”

In addition, the St. James School’s annual spaghetti dinner will be held on Friday, November 1, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at St. Joseph Church on 178 Elm Street in Biddeford. The cost is $5, with no charge for children under 5. All money raised will also benefit the school.

On Saturday, November 9, St. Thomas School will host the Mingle, Jingle, Run 5K and Fair at the Sanford Memorial Gym, located on 678 Main Street. Registration begins at 8 a.m., with the 5K walk/run starting at 9 a.m. Awards and prizes for the top finishers and those “best dressed” in line with the theme of “Mingle, Jingle, Run” will be given out. Advance registration is $25 for adults, $15 for those under the age of 18, and $10 for those 60 and over. Group rates are also available. To sign up, click here. On the day of the run, registration will be $30 for all participants.

“The school’s annual vendor fair will be open in the gym from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.,” said Donna Jacques, principal of St. Thomas School. “Those interested in a vendor space at the fair can call (207) 324-5832. All proceeds support our wonderful school!”

Both St. James and St. Thomas Schools hold institutional accreditation from the distinguished New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).
