Prayer for Vocations

Gentle God
You call us by name and lead us to life.
Through baptism you commission us
to proclaim the Good News.

Bless and strengthen all men and women,
lay and ordained,
who serve in the Church.
Guide and give wisdom
to those discerning their vocation.
Enrich our Church
with dedicated married and single people,
with priests, religious and deacons.

Filled with joy and your Holy Spirit
may we follow Jesus, our Good Shepherd,
now and always. Amen.

Prayer for Priests & Priestly Vocations

Lord Jesus Christ,
Eternal High Priest and Shepherd,
Bless the priests of our Diocese
with abundant graces during this Year for Priests.
Draw your priests
into ever deeper friendship with you.
Help them grow in holiness and zeal
after the example of Saint John Vianney.
Strengthen them to serve your people
with joy and hope in these challenging times.
Inspire those they serve to support them lovingly
by prayer and participation
in the Church's mission.
We beg you, Lord,
give us new workers for Your vineyard.
This we pray, Lord,
in Your Holy Name. Amen.

Most Rev. Richard J. Malone
11th Bishop of Portland / Bishop of Buffalo
