The Stations of the Cross have been prayed for centuries. They allow Christians who are unable to make a pilgrimage to the Holy Land to spiritually follow in the steps Jesus took from judgment to crucifixion and burial. The 14 stages begin with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane and conclude when His body is placed in the tomb.

Although the Stations of the Cross traditionally follow the same path, different prayers may be used. For more on praying the Stations of the Cross, including an audio version, visit the U.S. Bishops' website.

The Stations of the Cross will be prayed at many parishes and churches across the diocese during Lent. A list of some of them are included below.

Parish of the Transfiguration of the Lord:

Holy Redeemer Church - Fridays at 4:45 p.m. followed by Mass at 5:15 p.m.

All Saints Parish:

St. Mary Church - Fridays at 3:30 p.m .

Belfast

St. Brendan the Navigator Parish:

St. Francis of Assisi Church - Friday, February 22, and Friday, March 15 at 5:30 p.m .

Bethel

Parish of the Holy Savior:

Our Lady of the Snows Church - Fridays at 5 p.m.

Brunswick

All Saints Parish:

St. Charles Borromeo Church - Fridays at 4:30 p.m. Following the Stations of the Cross, there will be Lenten Haddock Suppers from 5 to 7 pm. Proceeds benefit Tedford Housing.

Camden

St. Brendan the Navigator Parish:

Our Lady of Good Hope Church - Friday, February 22, and Friday, March 15 at 6:30 p.m.

Caribou

Parish of the Precious Blood:

Holy Rosary Church - St. Faustina's Way of the Cross at 5:15 p.m. followed by soup and rolls on Fridays except for March 1 when the Way of the Cross will be at 4 p.m.

Dexter

Our Lady of the Snows Parish:

St. Anne Church - Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. followed by a simple soup and bread meal

Dover-Foxcroft

Our Lady of the Snows Parish:

St. Thomas Aquinas Church - Fridays at 4:30 p.m., followed by Eucharistic Adoration at 5 p.m. and then a simple soup and bread meal

Eagle Lake

St. John Vianney Parish:

St. Mary Church - Fridays at 3 p.m.

St. Joseph Parish - Fridays at 5:30 p.m. followed by potluck meatless soup & bread supper

Falmouth

Parish of the Holy Eucharist:

Holy Martyrs of North America Church - Fridays at 6:45 p.m., preceded by Mass at 5:30 p.m. and a simple Lenten meatless meal.

Fort Fairfield

Parish of the Precious Blood:

St. Denis Church - Fridays at 3:30 p.m. following the Divine Mercy Chaplet

St. John Vianney Parish:
