Divine Mercy Sunday Celebrations 2018

Divine Mercy Sunday is celebrated on the Second Sunday of Easter, the Octave of Easter, which this year is April 8, 2018. Below you will find a list of celebrations taking place in the Diocese of Portland. All Saints Parish, Brunswick

St. Mary Church, Bath - In celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday, St. Mary Church (144 Lincoln Street in Bath) will be open at 2 p.m. for private prayer with a Holy Hour beginning at 2:30 p.m.  During the Holy Hour, there will be exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Scripture readings, time for private prayer, the recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, reading from Saint Faustina's diary, benediction, and an opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  A reception will follow downstairs in the parish center. In addition, during the 9:30 a.m. Mass, there will be veneration of the Divine Mercy image.

Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, East Millinocket

St. Peter Church, East Millinocket - Christ the Divine Mercy Parish’s celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday will be held at 3 p.m. at St. Martin of Tours Church (19 Colby Street in Millinocket).  It will include readings from St. Faustina's diary, music, blessing of the Divine Mercy Image, and veneration of a first-class relic of St. Faustina.

Corpus Christi Parish, Waterville

Notre Dame Church, Waterville - Corpus Christi Parish will hold a Divine Mercy celebration at Notre Dame Church (116 Silver Street in Waterville). At 2 p.m., the sacrament of reconciliation will be offered, followed by the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, the recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and benediction.

Franciscan Monastery, Kennebunk

There will be a Divine Mercy celebration, with prayers and devotion, at the Franciscan Monastery (28 Beach Avenue in Kennebunk) starting at 2 p.m.

Good Shepherd Parish, Saco

Most Holy Trinity Church, Saco - A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration, which will include a holy hour and the singing of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, will be held at Most Holy Trinity Church (271 Main Street in Saco) beginning at 3 p.m.

Holy Family Parish, Greenville

Holy Family Church, Greenville -  Father Aaron Damboise will lead the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, April 7 at Holy Family Church (145 Pritham Avenue, Greenville). There will then be an opportunity to receive the sacrament of reconciliation, followed by Benediction with the Blessed Sacrament at 6 p.m.

Holy Savior Parish, Rumford

St. Athanasius and St. John Church, Rumford - Holy Savior Parish will hold a Divine Mercy Sunday Celebration at St. Athanasius and St. John Church (126 Maine Avenue in Rumford).  The celebration will begin at 2:30 p.m. with a procession, a short presentation, followed by the recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3 p.m.

Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Auburn

Sacred Heart Church, Auburn - Divine Mercy Sunday will be celebrated during and following the 11 a.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Church (8 Sacred Heart Place in Auburn). Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy in song will follow Mass.

Our Lady of the Valley Parish, St. Agatha

St. Agatha Church, Saint Agatha - A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will be held at St. Agatha Church (379 Main Street in Saint Agatha) beginning at 2:30 p.m. The celebration will include exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, the singing of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and benediction. There will also be an opportunity to participate in the sacrament of reconciliation from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Parish of the Holy Eucharist, Falmouth

Holy Martyrs of North America Church, Falmouth - The Parish of the Holy Eucharist invites you to join in the celebration of the Feast of Divine Mercy on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Holy Martyrs of North America Church (266 Foreside Road in Falmouth). The celebration will include veneration of the Divine Mercy image, meditation, eucharistic adoration, recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, benediction, and the sacrament of reconciliation. Holy Mass will begin at 5:30 p.m. 

Parish of the Precious Blood, Caribou

Holy Rosary Church, Caribou - The Parish of the Precious Blood will hold a Divine Mercy Sunday celebration beginning at 2 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church (34 Vaughn Street in Caribou). The celebration will include hymns, psalms, Scripture passages, the reading of passages from St. Faustina's Diary, the rosary, the recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, time for silent prayer, and the opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation. The service will conclude with a eucharistic procession and benediction.

Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Old Town

Holy Family Church, Old Town - A novena leading up to the Feast of Divine Mercy will be prayed at Holy Family Church, 429 Main Street in Old Town, beginning on Good Friday at 2:30 p.m. (preceding the Stations of the Cross). The novena will then continue each day until Divine Mercy Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Queen of Peace Chapel.

Parishes of the Western Maine Lakes & Foothills

St. Joseph Church, Bridgton - A 3 p.m. celebration of the Feast of Divine Mercy will be held at St. Joseph Church (225 South High St. in Bridgton). There will be exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, the singing of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, the Litany to Divine Mercy, meditations from St. Faustina's Diary and benediction.

Prince of Peace Parish, Lewiston

Basilica of Ss. Peter & Paul, Lewiston - The 10:30 a.m. Divine Mercy Sunday Mass at the Basilica of Ss. Peter & Paul (122 Ash Street in Lewiston) will be followed by a public, outdoor procession with the image of Divine Mercy and the enthronement of the image in the basilica chapel downstairs.

Holy Cross Church, Lewiston – A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will be held at 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Church (1080 Lisbon Street in Lewiston). It will include recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, exposition and benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, and an opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation.

St. Agnes Parish, Pittsfield

St. Agnes Church, Pittsfield - At 2 p.m. on Divine Mercy Sunday, all are invited to pray together at St. Agnes Church (238 Detroit Street in Pittsfield) for one hour to ask God for his mercy on our souls, the Catholic Church, our country, and our world.

St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Jackman

St. Faustina Church, Jackman -  Father Aaron Damboise will lead the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, at St. Faustina Church (370 Main Street, Jackman) Family Church. There will then be an opportunity to receive the sacrament of reconciliation, followed by Benediction with the Blessed Sacrament at 3 p.m.

St. Brendan the Navigator Parish, Camden

Our Lady of Good Hope Church, Camden - A Divine Mercy celebration at 2:45 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Hope Church (7 Union Street in Camden) will include a teaching on the devotion, praying of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.

St. Francis of Assisi Church, Belfast - A Divine Mercy celebration at 2:45 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church (81 Court Street in Belfast) will feature a teaching on the devotion, praying of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.

St. John Vianney Parish, Fort Kent

St. Louis Church, Fort Kent - There will be a Divine Mercy holy hour at St. Louis Church (26 East Main Street in Fort Kent) on Divine Mercy Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m.

St. Joseph Parish, Farmington

St. Joseph Church, Farmington - A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will begin at St. Joseph Church (133 Middle Street in Farmington) at 11:30 a.m. It will include adoration of the Blessed Sacrament unitl 5 p.m. and the recitation of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 3 p.m.

St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, Calais

Immaculate Conception Church, Calais - St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish will celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday at Immaculate Conception Church (31 Calais Avenue in Calais) at 2 p.m.  The celebration will begin with a Holy Hour with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and conclude with the recitaton of the Divine Mercy Chaplet and benediction.

St. Mary of the Visitation Parish, Houlton

St. Mary of the Visitation Church, Houlton - The Divine Mercy Chaplet will be recited at St. Mary of the Visitation Church (110 Military Street in Houlton) at 3 p.m.

St. Michael Parish, Augusta

St. Joseph Church, Gardiner - St. Michael Parish invites you to a celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday at St. Joseph Church (110 School Street in Gardiner) at 2 p.m. The celebration will include exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, adoration, recitation of the Rosary, readings, reflections, and the opportunity to receive the sacrament of reconciliation. Also, there will be a musical recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

St. Paul the Apostle Parish, Bangor

St. Teresa Church, Brewer - On Divine Mercy Sunday, there will be a holy hour at St. Teresa Church (425 South Main Street in Brewer) beginning at 4 p.m. The Holy Hour will include exposition and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, chanting of the Mercy Chaplet, readings, songs and the opportunity for confession. A Mass will follow at 5:30 p.m.

Stella Maris Parish, Bucksport

St. Vincent de Paul Church, Bucksport - The Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be prayed on Divine Mercy Sunday at 3 p.m. at Saint Vincent de Paul Church (64 Franklin Street in Bucksport).
