Parish Lenten Retreats

Corpus Christi Parish, Waterville

Take time this Lent to find inner peace and to learn how, during the Lenten season, we are each called to prayer, penitence, and almsgiving. During the retreat, we will enter into prayer, sing hymns, and hear Gregorian chant. Speakers will offer reflections on the Lenten liturgy.

The retreat will be held on Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 26 Monument Street, Winslow.

For more information, please contact Jay Violette at 649-7327.

Holy Spirit Parish, Wells

Holy Spirit Parish will begin the Lenten season with a parish mission during the week of February 27 - March 2.  The mission will consider the great challenge of growth in faith. As Cardinal J.H. Newman once said, "The only evidence of life is growth." This principle may be applied to all levels of life including the faith life.

Using the insights of the Scriptures, Twelve-Step Recovery programs, and the writings of St. Ignatius Loyola, this theme of freedom and growth will be explored. The mission will be led by Rev. Simeon Gallagher, O.F.M., Cap.

Each day begins with Mass, followed by a presentation.  Times are 8 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 236 Eldridge Road in Wells, and 6:30 p.m. at St. Martha Church, 34 Portland Road in Kennebunk.
