STANDISH---The 104th Saint Joseph’s College Commencement is set for Saturday, May 13, at 10 a.m. at the college’s Sebago Lake campus on 278 Whites Bridge Road in Standish. Bishop Robert P. Deeley will offer the benediction during the commencement ceremony.
The achievements of more than 650 students, including both campus and online students, will be celebrated with the conferring of baccalaureate degrees in arts, fine arts, science, science in business administration, and science in nursing; associate degrees of science; and graduate degrees in accountancy, arts, business administration, health administration science in education, and science in nursing.
President James Dlugos, Ph.D., will confer an honorary doctorate of public service to Ron L. Phillips, a community development practitioner and the retired president, CEO, and founder of Coastal Enterprises, Inc. (CEI) of Waldoboro, Maine; an honorary doctorate of public service to Dr. Jeanne Arnold, a nursing alum, trustee, and noted philanthropist of Lebanon, Pennsylvania; and an honorary doctorate of humane letters to Kerry Weber, a Catholic author, journalist, and social justice advocate of New York City, New York. Weber will also serve as this year’s commencement speaker.
Student speakers will include valedictorian Daniel Rowe of Gray and Ashton Piers, a master of science in nursing graduate from Portland. Ellis Baum and Dr. Jeanne Donlevy Arnold will welcome the graduates into the college’s Alumni Association.
